Greg Midzak, CFL-1, USAW
After high school, I woke up in college, not knowing what I wanted out of life. I took a chance and began a rewarding career with the US Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter. I spent just under ten years trouncing in the great public lands of our nation. Along the way, I became interested in CrossFit and became involved with the growing movement that it was. I became a CrossFit Level 1 instructor, as well as a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach, in the winter of 2014. While teaching group fitness classes, I began to wonder if the product that I presented was safe, effective, and well-thought-out. This began my search for higher knowledge of human capabilities and performance. Slowly, yet steadily, my interest in biomechanics, health, and longevity has grown. All the while, I observed firefighters around me and how they used their bodies as their tools for the trade. I found myself constantly analyzing and evaluating the safety, efficiency, and sustainability in my colleagues’ movement patterns. This led to my re-entry into school, and my present goal of becoming a Physical Therapist. I am greatly interested in helping people move their body in a pain-free, safe, and fun manner. I can find enjoyment in just about anything if it involves the sun, and Brittany, my partner of 3 years.
